Began by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) over 30 years ago, the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl is a prestigious annual tournament in which students collaboratively discuss the most pressing ethical issues of our time.
Unlike debate, participants defend their own positions, provide constructive criticism, and win by demonstrating rigorous thinking and respectful engagement. In responding to commentary and questions from the opposing team and a panel of judges, participants closely examine the deeper dimensions of the cases at hand.
Although 150+ teams from about 100 universities and colleges across the country compete, only the top 36 teams qualify for the Nationals. Learn more about the competition cases, rules, and guidelines on the APPE official website.
